Hilda’s heart was beating so heavily as she stood at the balcony with the strange man.

The walls were cracked and the area, almost unrecognizable. She couldn’t even tell where she was.

The strange man let out a smirk as he saw the fear on her face. And then he took out the wrapped potion and handed over to her.

“Tomorrow’s the day; don’t forget” he said.
“All you have to do is make sure you sprinkle this in Lord Xander’s meal or drink, so he takes them just before he leaves for the battle. I know you don’t want to do this,but don’t forget the life of your only son is at stake. My men are with him and the moment they notice you’ve failed on your mission, they’ll split your son’s neck and send his head to you. Do you understand?”

Hilda’s hands were shaking with the potion in it; she was sweating profusely. Why would these men want to poison Lord Xander?

She knew what that is; she could tell it wasn’t a poison to kill, but a poison to make him weak and dizzy. Why would they want to do this?

Oh, savhors! Her son’s life was at stake! She didn’t even know where they’d taken him already. What does she do?

Suddenly, the man gripped her roughly by the arm.

“I SAID, do you understand?” He gritted and she nodded tearfully.

It had taken Kaylan a lot to summon up the courage she needed and walk into the room. And getting inside, a sweet aroma welcomed her.

She paused, looked around, but couldn’t find Xander. But… she’d found some garnished meals on the small dining which was just beside the wall. Hm. So, Lord Xander could eat this much?

But where was he, anyways? Was the guard sure he was in?

She took another step away from the door, into the room and her eyes caught the sight of the glittering jewelries on the wall.

Oh! No, Kaylan! The last time she’d admired his jeweleries, it didn’t turn out well. So, quickly, she took her gaze away and the next place her eyes rested upon were the food on the dining.

Oh! For the creators sake! It was looking so delicious.

She walked closer to it, taking a peep and she found one of her favorite beef part over there. But why would Lord eat so much food, huh? It wasn’t good for a man to eat that much – definitely.

Well…he could eat all he wants, but perhaps, taking just that part wouldn’t change a thing. She was pretty sure he wouldn’t even notice.

So, with that thought in mind, she looked around again and quickly, dipped her hand into the plate where she brought out the sauced meat. But that was her doom as the door to the bathroom opened immediately with Lord Xander stepping out of it.
Oh, God! No…!

Kaylan’s heart skipped immediately.

He was putting on a black nightie and first had his eyes staring down at the floor before lifting them and noticing the lady in front of him. With….a piece of meat. Wow…

Kaylan could feel her heart in her mouth we she stared at the meat and looked up at him. Goodness! Was this a trap or something? What would he think of her? Stealing meat from his meal?

Slowly, she dropped the meat back into the plate.

“Um…. I can assure you; it’s not what you think. I was …Um… Only trying to make sure …”

She stopped talking when Xander left the bathroom door and started walking towards her. No; not towards her; but the dining.

Okay; maybe she didn’t needed to explain. Let the worst happen already….

The sauce from the meat was still stuck on her finger and timidly, she licked it.

There were just two chairs on the dining, each across,. And gentle Xander’ took one of the seats.
Even in her predicament, she still had the time to notice how charming he looked – as usual.

His skin color was unusually glowing with his pretty eyes adding so much cuteness to him.

His long hair was well brushed and relaxed, and as they fell freely on his back, they sparkled.

“Greetings, My Lord” she finally said, realizing she hadn’t greeted since he walked in. And that was a big offense.

“Um…Your chief guard told me you wanted to see me”.

“Take a seat, Kaylan” Xander said almost immediately.
“Let’s have breakfast”.

Okay; and that was the point Kaylan had to express her surprise.
Hold on; breakfast??? Was this a joke or something??

For almost a minute, she was silent.

“My Lord?” She scoffed. “Is there… A problem?”

“Yesterday”, Xander looked up at her.
“When you were babbling about responsibilities and the rest, you never told me having breakfast was a problem”.

Hold on; whaaat??? Was he doing all of these because of the things she’d said the previous day?? Goodness! That was just some stupid excuse to get him to see her, and also stop him from copulating with that sèx mistress of his. She didn’t mean a thing.

“My…My Lord, I didn’t mean to upset you with my words yesterday. And I sincerely hope you’re not taking it the wrong way” she said with her head bowed. .

“Not yet, Kaylan. But I really think you should sit” he stated grumpily and realizing she didn’t have much of an option anymore, she lowered herself to the seat behind her.

Seriously? Well, it was to her own benefit, anyway. At least, she’d get to have a taste of that meat …

“Um…. I must say… thank you for this privileg” she cleared her throat a bit and said.
The room was so bright and for the first time, she could notice something about Lord Xander – he was a pretty young guy. Just his huge muscles and grumpiness made him seem tooo matured most of the times.

“It isn’t a privilege, Kaylan” he said, picking up his cutleries.
“It’s a responsibility – you explained it yourself. And.. I hope you’re ready to spend the night on my bed today”.

By dawn of the following day, the news of the fight taking place between Lord Xander and Prince Berlin had gone really rival.

Kings and Rulers had gotten an invitation to the venue of the fight and they were all muddled, wondering why Prince Berlin would challenge someone like Xander to a fight.

They all know him – he was the master of swords, the demon fighter. Kingdoms were scared of going to war with him. So, why would Prince Berlin want to bring trouble for himself?

Some of them felt it was a waste of time going to see how a mere prince would be killed. But the others felt they would really want to enjoy the show.

That morning, Kaylan sat in the room with Jaden, talking over it with breakfast.

“But why would Prince Berlin challenge Lord Xander to a fight? Just because he wants revenge?” Jaden asked, munching on her bread.
“It’s just like a fly going to challenge a lion”.

Kaylan said nothing as she only ate in silence, having a doleful look on.

“What’s the problem with you, Kaylan? You don’t want the fight to go on?” Jaden asked.

“It’s not just that, Jaden. I don’t know why but, I feel so uncomfortable with the fight taking place tomorrow. I feel like… something bad is about to happen” Kaylan muttered.

“Oh, Kaylan. Will you stop being dramatic? It’s Lord Xander we’re talking about, you know? He’s undefeatable. I think Prince Berlin’s just acting out of anger and it’s so unfortunate that anger is going to get him killed. I wonder if his parents are not trying to stop him”. Jaden shook her head and took another munch from her bread.

They continued eating and just then, a knock came on the door.

“Who’s it?” Jaden did the asking and the door opened with Axel coming in.

“I didn’t ask you to come in. I only wanted to know who was knocking” Jaden snapped, but Axel said nothing as he only walked in with his shoulders high and stood in front of Kaylan.

“Greetings, Princess” he bowed a little.
“Sorry for the interruption, but Lord Xander wants you in his chambers – now”.

Kaylan’s jaws dropped. What???

She glanced at Jaden who was also looking gobsmacked.

“Wh…. why?” She stuttered, confused.

“I’m sorry, Princess. But I can’t say” Axel replied.

“And why would you deliver a message when you can’t state the reason?”Jaden cut in.
“My princess deserves to know why she’s being called upon”.

“Since you derive so much joy in being the princess’ spokesman, I’d suggest you go ask Lord Xander his reason for calling on her” Axel answered brusquely and returned his gaze to Kaylan.

“I’ll be waiting outside, My Princess” he added and started walking away, while Jaden’s mouth was agaped with shock.

“You’re completely mannerless, you know that?!” She rasped from behind.
“The nerves of that guy to speak that way to me”.

“Jaden, why do you think Xander’s calling for me?” Kaylan asked as soon as he walked pass the door, ignoring Jaden’s queries.

“I wish I had an idea, Kaylan. Did you do something wrong?” Jaden asked.

“I’ve been with you the whole time,Jaden. What could I possibly do wrong? Even if I did something wrong, you know you’ll be the first to find out”.

“Hmm…”
Jaden placed her hand on her jaw.

“Tell you what, Kaylan, I think you should just go for it. Yes, don’t worry. Just go. Since you didn’t do anything wrong, you shouldn’t be scared”. Jaden said.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes… it’s not like you have any other option, anyway. Come on, don’t commit a real offense by keeping him waiting” Jaden urged and Kaylan stood up afterwards.

She paused and took a downward glance at her dress.

“Do you think I’m good enough, or I should….”

“You’re good enough, Kaylan. It’s morning and no one should be seen with a heavy look” Jaden rolled her eyes, making Kaylan tweak her ear.

“Ouch….”

“You better mind the way you talk to me, Jaden. I can have you whipped”. She warned, but Jaden only bursted out laughing.

“Even if you become the ruler of the entire world, you can never have me punished” Jaden spanked her @ss while Kaylan laughed and left the room.

Getting outside, she met Axel still waiting for her and that was where her fears returned. Why was Xander calling for her?

He took the lead while she followed and after a long walk, they got to his chambers.

“He’s inside, Princess” Axel pointed to the room and took his position which was right beside the entrance, but Kaylan felt nervous going in.

“Um .. Do you think he wants to punish me?” She asked lowly, itching her nape.

“I don’t think so, Princess. I just see you should go in and see for yourself” he answered and fixed his gaze straight, indicating he didn’t want any more questions.

Kaylan was baffled. Why else would Xander be calling for her, huh? The only times he’s sent for her was when she’d done something wrong and he’d wanted to punish her. So, what could it be this time around?

Standing there and questioning herself, she decided she couldn’t get any answers from there and decided to go in herself.

“What important discussion do you say you want to have with me, Princess?” Xander asked as soon as Anya left and they were the only ones left in the room.

His left hand was held mid way to his midway to his chest.

Kaylan cleared her throat a bit and looked around before turning to face him. Okay…. What could she possibly tell him now? She actually didn’t think about it before barging into the room.

Xander didn’t need to repeat himself because the moment Kaylan took a look at him, she could see those impatient eyes staring at her.

“Can I sit?” She asked, pointing to the wooden chair beside the bed and Xander stared silently at her for a while before signaling her to go ahead.
And with a light smile on her face, she took the seat. Now, what other excuse does she have?

“You know.. I have to seek permission before sitting because that was how my father trained I and my sisters. My father – King Moreh – although, he’s always very busy, he never fails to find little time for us…”

Xander was marveled.

“It’s alright, Princess. You don’t have to go round the history” he cut her – tenderly tho.

“Of course” Kaylan smiled.
“Um…Now, over to the very important discussion, I just want to know, Your Lord, sorry, My Lord. Why do you act the way you do?”

Xander remained unflinched. Although, he was surprised and confused, he didn’t know how to show hiis expression.

“Beg your pardon?” He asked.

“What I mean is… You’re always too serious, always too grumpy. You don’t even act like you’re married. Although, I know you were not really in support of this marriage, neither was I. But since it’s happened already, why don’t we just accept fate as it is and move on?

“You still sleep around and let another woman take my place. I’ve read books of how husbands sends gifts to their wives, treat them specially, But you? You’re different. You don’t even act like we’re married. Since I stepped into this mansion, we’ve never had breakfast, lunch or dinner together. It’s always been….”

Kaylan suddenly stopped when she discovered she’d been talking too much. Oh God! What has she been talking the whole time?

She paused and looked up at Lord Xander’s face. As usual, he wore an unreadable expression.

“I’m…. I’m sorry if I’ve spoken too much, My Lord” she bowed her head a little. But for what seemed like a long time to Kaylan, she didn’t hear him say a word.
Why was he so choosey with words?

He suddenly sighed and went closer to her.

“Princess Kaylan” he called tenderly. “Are you trying to say you’re ready to take your place in my bed?”

Kaylan’s eyes dimmed immediately. Whaaat??? Was that one of the things she’d Said??

“I…. I don’t think we should talk about that, My L…. Lord” she stuttered and Xander scoffed.

“Or you trying to say…we should have breakfast, lunch and dinner together?” He asked and to that, Kaylan could give no reply.

Okay; it’s confirmed. Coming there was the biggest mistake she’s made in a long time. Maybe she should’ve just permitted him to do whatever he pleased with his séx Mistress. She shouldn’t had stopped them!

“You should know me, Princess” Xander continued.
“I have a community to rule, and not just a wife to please. But still, I respect your decision and bravery to come before me and lay your complaint, and for that, I’ll look into it”.

Surprise ran through Kaylan immediately. He’ll look into it? Oh…

“Um…. That would be nice, My Lord. Thank you for your consideration. If you wouldn’t mind, I beg to take my leave”. She smiled, bowed and walked past him to the door.

“And Princess” Xander called back her attention.
Although, Kaylan turned around to look at him, Xander didn’t turn and that way, she could only stare at his back.

“Next time, you don’t have to interrupt my time because you want me to notice your new look. Have a nice day”.
And with that, he left, going into his inner room while Kaylan stood there, dumbfounded.

The hell???
