Disputed N19.3b to be returned to CBN
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has withdrawn its suit seeking the forfeiture of N20billion bail out funds granted to the Kogi State Government by Sterling Bank.

The money, which was alleged to have been domiciled in an interest yielding account with the bank, was meant for the payment of Kogi State workers.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke aneke granted the order of withdrawal on Friday sequel to a motion filed and argued by the counsel to EFCC, Mr Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, leading Mr Rotimi Oyedepo.
Pinheiro listed six grounds upon which the judge granted the prayer, adding that “the EFCC is a responsible body”.
One of the grounds was that questions resulting in the commencement of the suit had been clarified, and an intention had been shown to return the sum of N19,333,333,333.36 back to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Justice Aneke held: “I have listened to the submission of the learned Silk for the application, Mr Kemi Pinheiro SAN vis-a-vis perused the motion to withdraw. My humble opinion is that application is meritorious and ought to be granted
“Accordingly, the application is granted as prayed.”
Justice Tijjani Ringim had on August 31, granted an ex-parte application brought by the EFCC for an interim forfeiture of the N19, 333, 333, 333.36 billion, said to be warehoused in state’s Sterling Bank account number 0073572696.
Justice Ringim made the order of the interim forfeiture after taken arguments from the EFCC’s counsel, Abbas Muhammed.
The judge ruled that the order was pending the conclusion of an investigation or possible prosecution by the EFCC.

Okene LG Chairman Hails Confluence University’s Smooth Take-Off

The Chairman of Okene Local Government Council, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has commended the management of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara (CUSTECH), for the smooth take-off of academic activities in the institution.

Abdulrazaq gave the commendation when he led his cabinet members on a courtesy visit to the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salawu Sadiku on Tuesday.

“As an indigene of Okene local government who has acquired so much academic knowledge and administrative experience over the years, I have no doubt that you will deploy same to develop the institution to an enviable height in no distance time,” he said.

He prayed for more wisdom, guidance and the needed strength to pilot the affairs of the new institution.

In his response, Vice-Chancellor described the visit as a moral booster. He thanked the council chairman for his support and encouragement so far.

He acknowledged the contributions of the local governments and reiterate the efforts of the university to reciprocate the gesture in employment opportunities and other statutory benefits.

The Vice-Chancellor maintained that in less than a year of accreditation of the institution, the school was able to attract students to commence academic activities.

He said the school was established to bridge the gap in science and technology and of course compliment the effort of Kogi State University, Anyigba to provide qualitative education for the people of Kogi state.

Just In: Kogi Commissioner For Health Sacked For Diverting Project Funds

News Reaching Us Now is that Kogi Commissioner For Health Saka Haruna Has been sacked by the State Government for diverting public funds meant for Ajaokuta Government Hospital.

Funny Enough The Commissioner is from same Local Government😂

This is sad actually.
Dr Saka Haruna Audu demolished our only functioning Hospital for the past 4years. Till date no revitalization

Recently, he influence a gigantic Hospital for replacement.

While anticipating for a monumental edifice & a well equipped Hospital in replacement for the one in a lingering state of comatose. Speculations reaching us has it that the Honourable Commissioner who is a supposed cleric swallow humongous amount of money meant for the completion of the project & we are honestly in Ramadan Month…& thus he has been relieved of his office as the Kogi State Commissioner for Health.

The Honorable commissioner should issue a press release to clear the storm, lets know how to separate chaff from the grains this moment

I just wish this will end as speculation, may the rumours not turn to reality because Eganyi will live to regret having you in position of authority.
