Lord Xander stood unflinched, with the sword dripping with blood in his hand.
And in a husky voice, he said;
“You have 15 seconds to provide my wife or more heads will roll”.

Surprise filled the faces of everyone present as they didn’t expect such act from Xander. They were talking about the death of an important person and he just caused the death of another??

Silence took over for the next few minutes, but not until Berlin got really angry.

“How dare you?!!” He roared and tried going at him, but Prince Noah was quick enough to hold him.
He knew Xander wouldn’t hesitate to chop off his head as well and he didn’t want that to happen.

And nobody could attack him because they knew at that moment, he could kill everyone of them in the room and walk out like nothing ever happened.

“Guards!” The King suddenly called and two guards scurried from the door to where he was

“Your Highness!”.

“Go to the dungeon and release the princess” he ordered and the guards bowed and left immediately.

Prince Berlin was boiling with anger, terribly. Damn it! He needed someone to pay!

“This isn’t over! It isn’t over!” He pointed a finger at Xander, then turned around and left.

Noah could notice how Xander’s fist tightned around the sword he held and it was obvious he’d have used it on Berlin if he’d taken one more step closer.

Xander stared at the King, his eyes so damn red. And dropping the sword on the floor, he turned around and left.

Kaylan was so worried as she paced tho and fro in the dungeon, wondering what could be going on out there. She still couldn’t believe Princess Nivea was dead; someone she’d been with a while ago.

But….if the drink she’d given to Nivea was really poisoned, then it meant The poison was meant for her, right? Yes! Because a maid had served the drink to her, but she didn’t take It before handing it to Nivea some minutes later. And now…Nivea was dead. Goodness! Could it be possible someone had made an attempt on her life?? Someone had tried to kill her?? But who could that be and why?

If she hadn’t given that drink to Nivea and had taken it instead, so she’d have been the one in her place? She’d have been the one dead at that moment?? For God’s sake! Who could this be??

More fear gripped her and shortly, she heard footsteps and turned to see two guards walking towards her.
They got to her cell and opened the gate.

“Come out, princess” one of them said, making Kaylan’s eyes beam.
She was being released???

She stared suspiciously at them for a while, then without further hesitation, quickly rushed out of the cell.

The guards directed and took her to the carriage where Xander was already waiting. Goodness!! She was really being released! What happened? Has everything being sorted out already?

She hurried into the carriage and took a seat beside him.

“My…My Lord” she stuttered.
“I didn’t do it. I didn’t do what they accused me of”

Xander said nothing – not immediately.

The guard started the carriage and quickly, they took off.

“You’re not saying anything” Kaylan grouse, feeling worried he might actually not believe her.

And in his usual cold tone, he replied:
“I know”.

Prince Berlin wasn’t ready to give up without a fight. He was only trying to get revenge for his sister but only lost another in the process. And it was all because of Lord Xander.

Well…. he knew exactly what to do. A better way to get rid of the Master himself – once and for all.

Princess Nivea didn’t even realize she was sitting beside Lord Xander’s wife. Her mood was so ruined, it didn’t occur to her – not at all.

Almost immediately, her personal maid arrived, whispered something into her ears before standing behind her.

Kaylan, on the other hand, was also silent and kept wondering where Xander could’ve been. Where did he go to, leaving her all alone over there?

Well, why should she even care? She was sure nothing would’ve changed if he was there.

She just continued watching the activities and dance entertainment going on at the party and shortly, she heard the lady beside her sniffle.huh?

She turned quickly to have a look and notice she was wiping her face.

“Are you… crying?” She asked, surprised, and Nivea shook her head.

“I’m not” she shook her head ruefully without looking at her.

But Kaylan wasn’t convinced and knew she was lying.

“What’s the problem? I don’t think it’s right to cry on a day like this”.she persisted and Nivea decided to look at her.
And as soon as she did, her brows furrjews in front surprise.

“Hold on… Aren’t you Kaylan? Lord Xander’s wife?” She asked and Kaylan wondered how she knew her.

“Yes, I am” she nodded and the bemusement on Nivea’s face increased.

“Wow. I had no idea. Where’s Lord Xander?” She looked around, noting he should be there with her.
Her tears had literally dried up

“I…. I don’t know. He was here with me, but all of a sudden, he just left” Kaylan replied and Nivea nodded and stared away

But…

“You sound like you know Lord Xander… closely?” Kaylan asked and Nivea looked at her again.

“I do. My sister was his second wife”. She answered with a frail smile and Kaylan’s eyes dimmed

Oh… wow! That means, her sister was dead, right?

Nivea sniffed and took in a deep breath.

“Oh; i need a drink” she muttered tiredly and turned to her maid.

“Get me a drink, Amada”.

“Yes, my princess” the lady bowed and left immediately

“Um… you can have mine if you want. I’m not in a hurry to drink” Kaylan said and Nivea who was really thirsty, didn’t wait to consider it.

“Thank you” she muttered tiredly and took the warm drink, sipping from it.
It was just what she wanted and without hesitation, she took in more gulps.
“but are you sure you’re fine? You know … you were crying a while ago” Kaylan said and Nivea managed a smile.

“I’m fine dear. You shouldn’t worry about me. I’ll be fine” she answered weakly.

Nivea’s maid returned not long after and noticed her princess was already making use of Kaylan’s drink. So, she handed the new drink to Kaylan instead

She was about asking Nivea a question when suddenly, the party drums stopped beating and all eyes diverted to the center of the stage. It was obvious something else wanted to take place.

There was a very huge man standing there, so many beads and marks around him.

“Welcome, Esteemed Kings, Queens, rulers, princesses and all invited guests of this heart warming festival” he began, spreading his arms apart
“We understand how busy you are and appreciate the efforts and sacrifices you’ve put in just to be present here

“As we all know, it’s a great day for the people of the Sambona as we’ve finally gotten an heir to the throne after waiting for so many years – so many years. The goddess of fertility decided to smile on us. The naming will be done soon enough, but for now, what’s a Royal festival without some sword entertainment, heh?”

There was a round of laughters.

“And definitely, this festival won’t be anywhere different. So, we’ll be calling on some skilled men to keep us entertained”.

He looked around and just then, two well built men stepped out with swords in their hands

“Urgh! I hate this” Nivea groused, looking away from the scene and Kaylan looked at her.

“But why? Watching a sword fight shouldn’t really be a big deal. As a matter of fact, I love it!” She laughed excitedly.

Nivea shurgged and drank from her cup and just then, the boys started fighting

Kaylan wanted to watch the fight, but something more interesting popped up.

“Um…. Princess Nivea”, she called, earning the princess’ attention

“Can I ask you a question, please?”

“Of course. What is it?” Nivea asked genially, giving her the go ahead
Kaylan was really hoping her question wouldn’t hurt her

“Your sister… the one that was married to Lord Xander, how did she die?”

Nivea’s hand shook immediately, although it was only for a second, but Kaylan was smart enough to notice it.

She looked at her.
“Why asking?”

“Um… nothing really. It’s just that… I’ve been really curious for sometime now, wondering why Lord Xander’s two wives are dead. Although, there’s been some rumors about it, but I don’t even know which to believe anymore. So, if you could just tell me …” She purposely paused, noticing the bleak look on Nivea’s face

Nivea sighed pathetically and took some more gulps from her glass.

“About that ..” she exhaled deeply
“I only have one advise for you – don’t get pregnant for Xander”.

Cold waves rushed through Kaylan’s spine as soon as she said those words. Huh?? What’s she talking about??

Shock took over her and just when she tried asking a question, she got interrupted by Nivea who bursted into a cranky cough

“My princess! Are you alright?” The maid behind her asked as she touched her shoulder

But Nivea couldn’t say a word, only coughed more.

“Princess?” Kalyan coughed, surprised. . Why was she suddenly coughing?

“I think you should get her some water” she said to the maid who quickly left without hesitation.

Nivea placed her hand on her chest, still coughing profusely.

“Kaylan ..” she tried to call out and just then, blood spilled out from her mouth.
The scene was already drawing attention from the people around

“Nivea!” Kaylan called in shock as she hit the floor.

“Nivea!!” Kaylan called in shock , not understanding why she was spitting out blood already. What was wrong with her??

All eyes had already turned to their direction as people found the scene alarming.

“Hey; what’s going on?”

The men fighting had also stopped and turned to have a look as the scene gripped everyone’s attention.

“Nivea!”
Her eyes were going close already

“What happened to her?? What’s going on??” A man suddenly yelled as he showed up and ran to Nivea on the floor.
That was her brother

Kaylan was dumb and couldn’t explain anything and without hesitation, her brother – prince Berlin – carried her up and ran away with her
Kaylan was troubled and without thinking twice, decided to follow them to where ever it is they were taking her.

The rest of the officials tried to calm the party down as Nivea was taken away, but of course, a topic of discussion was already going round and couldn’t exactly be stopped.

Nivea was taken to the royal Physician while Kaylan and the rest stood outside, awaiting results.

What the hell was wrong with her? Why was she just coughing all of a sudden? What could’ve happened?

Nivea’s maid was there as well, almost in tears as she wept for her princess.

“What the hell happened out there?” Prince Berlin rasped as he marched towards them, his eyes specifically on Nivea’s maid.

“You were there with her. What happened?!”

“I… I don’t know, my prince” Amanda stuttered fearfully.
“We were just out there, watching the party. When all of a sudden, she started coughing. She wasn’t attacked or anything …”

The maid was so scared for her life as she’d known the Prince to be very short tempered and violent

Prince Berlin was boiling with anger. If anything were to happen to his sister….

He glanced at Kaylan, then turned away from them and continued marching tho and fro and after a while, the door opened with the Royal Physician stepping out. Without hesitation, they rnw to him.

“Hey; how’s she? What’s going on??” Berlin asked, his heart melting at the discouraging look on the Physician’s face.
Why was he looking that way with his gaze on the floor??

“Hey! Talk to me!” He shook his hand.

Kaylan was already panicking.

“She was poisoned” the Physician finally said and a wild gasp ran across the room
What???

Berlin’s face had a scrawl.

“Poisoned?” He asked in a surprised tone and the physician nodded.

“It was a dangerous poison and I’m sorry, but she didn’t make it”. He added and Prince Berlin didn’t realize when his sword fell from his hand.

“No!!” Amanda covered her mouth with her Palm and shrieked.
No!! This isn’t true! It isn’t true!”

Kaylan gasped as well, her eyes dilated in shock. She could feel her head spinning.

No…. what’s he talking about??? What’s he talking about???
She was having a conversation with Nivea a while ago. So, what’s he talking about??

“What do you…. what do you mean?’ Prince Berlin asked, probably too shocked to even yell.
“What do you mean she didn’t make it??”

“I’m sorry, my prince” the physician muttered sadly and instantly, Berlin gripped him by the neck.

“No!! You have no right to be sorry. You hear me?! You have no right to be sorry. So, go in there and get my sister!!” He yelled, almost strangling the old man until Nivea’s husband – Prince Noah – intervened and pulled him apart

“Berlin…”

He brought out his sword and marched to the maid.

“YOU are her personal maid! You’ve been with her the whole time!! Tell me what I need to know!! What happened to my sister?!” His eyes were bloodsh!t red, not minding the fact that the maid was already in tears.

“I swear; please, I don’t know anything about This… I don’t know anything about any poison….” She wept and shook fearfully.

“Then, I’ll have four head for it because it was your duty to protect her!! It was your duty!!” Berlin roared, pointing the knife to her neck

“Please! All I know is the fact that she’d taken a drink! A….A drink at the party, please!” Amanda cried out

“What drink?! What’re you talking about??”

“It was from… the princess… Princess Kaylan!!”

There was a stunned silence as Kaylan who was already shocked, looked at them in surprise.
Hold on… the drink???

Berlin’s eyes drooped instantly as he turned and looked at Kaylan

“You poisoned my wife?” Prince Noah asked in disbelief, making Kaylan go blatantly shocked

Hold on….

“What’re you…. What’re you talking about? I didn’t poison her! I….”

“So, how did she get a drink from you??!”

“She was sitting next to me!” Kaylan yelled back, going through a lot of trauma already.
“She asked for a drink and while her maid rushed to get it for her, she decided take mine”.

“Really?” Prince Noah scoffed.
“My sister doesn’t just take drinks from random strangers. So, look for a better lie!”

“I’m not lying….

“Shut up!!” Prince Berlin yelled and landed a resounding slap on her cheek which he brought her to the floor .

“You b!tch! Guards!!!”

Two guards stepped forward immediately.

“Take her away and lock her up!!”

“Yes, My Prince” the guards bowed and without hesitation, lifted Kaylan from the floor and left with her.
